Presentation Tips

In spite of the holiday season being upon us, we had 17 local business owners & representatives with us this week, and with Barrington’s having recently been refurbished the new layout made sure people networked as intended.

Matt Willson of WillsonWebDesign kicked off proceedings with a 5 minute refresher on making effective presentations. The checklist was straight forward:

- Structure:
– tell ‘em what you’re going to tell ‘em
– tell ‘em
– tell ‘em what you told ‘em”

- Visual Aids:
– less is more (no detailed charts or tables)

- Excuses:
– Never say “I’m a bad presenter” or “this might not be interesting”

Then Steve Leverton gave us a 10 minute presentation on his business, Cornmill Associates, a business consultancy with specialism in the area of business finance. Steve has a long & successful career in a major bank, and as such is perfectly placed to help businesses plan and manage their finances, as well as being an invaluable resource to any business looking for lending to expand.
