Business Continuity

A thought provoking ten minutes today, from Peter Corbett of Buzzard IT Consulting. For the few not present Pete worked for a company with global outlets that lost its HQ in a fire caused by a phone charger and the talk concentrated on the need and the difficulties associated with business continuity. It demonstrates once more how, despite my initial opinions to the contrary, small businesses can learn from the experience and operations of larger ones.

The presentation was thought provoking because we have to consider extremes, even if they are unpalatable. I have no doubt that losing my house in a blaze would come with its own stress and upheaval, but to lose the means of deriving an income too would probably drive me to drink.
